People Looking For Conspiracies Tend To Find Them

22 Aug

Having been on the Internet for about 20 years I’ve encountered a lot of conspiracy theories and theorists.  One thing I’ve noticed is that once people start looking for conspiracies they find them.  They want to find them and they do find them.  It may be a bit like giving up smoking, you have to want to if you don’t want to then giving up is much harder to do.  If you don’t want to believe in global conspiracy theories then the likelihood of you finding one you consider plausible is greatly reduced.

I’ve also noticed that people who believe some of the funkier conspiracy theories tend to be atheists.  Voltaire was wrong when he said “Si Dieu n’existait pas, il faudrait l’inventer”, what he should have said was “Si Dieu n’existait pas, il serait nécessaire d’inventer des théories du complot.”

People who choose to be Godless seem very open to believing all sorts of nonsense about The Elites who are Plotting To Rule us.  Now I’ll grant you that there are people in the world who are more powerful than other people in the world and that these people want to hang on to their power, but I refuse to believe that they do so by some of the most contrived and ridiculous methods possible.

Let’s take immigration as an example.  People suggest that uncontrolled immigration is a big conspiracy by the Liberal Elites to rob the west of it’s own power and replace it with a global caliphate.  I’d suggest that it’s simple incompetence born of malice on the part of the some elements within democratic politics.  Labour admit that they opened up the borders in order to bring in people who would vote for them.  We all know that people are most likely to vote for people who make their lives easier and give them money.  So that’s what Labour did and as a result of the system’s inability to cope and simple incompetence many things have gone tits up.  Sounds plausible?  Consider the alternative.  The Liberal Elites, having gained power in a system are working to change that system utterly in order to hang on their power.  Now that’s as sensible as a politician who gets elected under FPTP wanting AV.  Only a cretin would change the system that gives them power to a system that might not.

The other thing about conspiracy theories is that they are so marvellously convoluted.  If the US Government is responsible for 9/11 it would require a conspiracy of such magnitude that there is no way that it could be kept secret, someone would talk.  Ah yes, says the theorist, they can silence anyone who speaks out.  Really?  So why are thousands of conspiracy theorists not silenced?  If the government can silence the literally thousands of people who would be required to set up 9/11 why can’t they shut up the conspiracy theorists?  Why, for that matter, have they done this in a way that a kid, sitting in his mum’s basement, can figure it out on his own?  If they were that incompetent then they wouldn’t manage to maintain official silence.  In fact it’s unlikely that they could have actually managed to carry out the initial conspiracy in the first place.

Now, I’m sure there are all sorts of organisations out there that want things.  That’s cool, that’s fine, people can want things.  I, personally, want to get free beer, I can want that.  It does actually happen in my case.  I can get free or very cheap beer at certain times.  But it’s not a conspiracy.  It’s proper use of the sometimes chaotic systems in place.

The UN apparently wants to create a New World Order under the auspices of some shadowy elites.  They can want that.  It seems unlikely it would work.  The EU is a prime example of how one can take a group of countries with many commonalities and try to forge a new order out of them.  It doesn’t work, the disparities far outweigh the commonalities and it all goes wrong.

Some people like to believe that Climate Change is a big conspiracy to reorder various financial systems and feed the power of the shadowy elites.  I’ll grant you that politics and money are now more important in Climate Change than mere science and I’ll grant you that people when shown opportunities to make money will take them but the reason the people who are making the money are the people with the money is because they have the money to invest.  But that’s not changing the system, that is the system.  And if people are making money they will be singularly uninterested in stopping making money, that’s human nature and a manifestation of the existing system.

No conspiracy just people being people.

Anyway, that’s me for now, but before I go a little note on that curry recipe in the previous blog.  It’s a cracker, try it.  Let me know how you get on.

I’m new here, but I’m really into this sort of thing, and I like to help people understand what is truly going on,l and how you can prepare for it.

I came across this site last week, and I think you could all benefit from it.

Anyway, mods, if this in in the wrong section, please move it, or, if you must, delete it. I think that this info needs to be out there though.

I hope some of you find this helpful. Good luck, and god bless you

This is the sort of nonsense I’m referring to. Ooh the world’s going to end.
